Madison Proposes - September 9, 2011

Madison told Megan that he was working a press conference at Daniel Stowe Botantical Garden. He told her that he had a break from 1-5 and suggested that they dress up and explore the Gardens before the conference began. Megan agreed, and they headed to the Gardens. They walked up to the receptionist desk. Madison told the woman at the desk that he was here for the press conference and she handed him an envolope with the words "Comp Tickets for Madison Keaton" on it. After donning the ticket bracelets, he asked if he could meet up with Isablella, the event coordinator, because they needed to talk about the conference. Isabella came out and took Megan and Madison to the Great Room. This room had windows that looked out in the gardens, shades pulled over the windows that looked out in the reception area and a piano in the center of the room. Isabella explained the different options Madison's company had concerning the conference - raising the shades, organizing the tables and turning on the automatic player on the piano. Madison shyly asked if he was allowed to play on the piano and Isabella responded with a shocked, "Oh, you play?". Little did Megan know, this conversation involved two actors; Madison had prearranged to have the piano moved to that location. Isabella told them that he was free to play, they could walk around and enjoy the gardens and she would draw up a contract before the conference began.

They walked around the greenhouse and then Madison guided Megan back toward the great hall area. He pulled up a chair by the piano for Megan to use and began to play their song. This song is the song if their relationship; each part represents a big event in their relationship. He had been writing the part of their engagement but Megan had not been allowed to hear it yet because they were not engaged yet. However, this time, when Megan expected the song to end, he continued playing. This was the pre-proposal part of the song. He finished playing, with Megan's heart racing, and said nonchalantly, "So that's where I think I'm going with it." He stood back up and they continued their walk into and around the gardens.

The previous Sunday, Madison had gone to the gardens to find the perfect bench: a bench tucked into the bushes, flowers in front of them and a fountain that was close enough to see but not close enough to impede conversation. This place was almost exactly what Megan had described as perfect proposal spot a couple years earlier. When they got to this bench, he sat down and began saying sweet things. Megan did not think this was unusual because he says sweet things all the time. He was about to get on one knee when four people walk to the fountain to take pictures. He lost his steam. They talked about normal everyday things until the people walked away. After a moment of silence, Madison said, "It takes me a long time to come with something to say on the spot." Megan laughed and teased him about the fact that sentence made no sense. He laughed too and said, "Are you sure you want to be with me forever?" She said yes. "Good," he responded. "Becuase I am going to propose to you soon. Actually, I am going to propose to you tonight.". He reached down into the backpack he was carrying and pulled out a microphone box. Inside this box was the ring box. He went on one knee and said "Megan, will you marry me?" And she kissed him... And then she yes!
